The Lending Library is a service for members of the Moneta-L email list only. If you are an ancient coin collector and are interested in joining see the ACM box at left. Joining is easy to do and we would be happy to have you.
We are also actively seeking donations of books and reference material on the subject of ancient coins or history so that we may be able to offer the members the widest range of selections possible. If you have a book (or books .. the more the merrier) that you would like to donate, please email Kevin.
Requesting A Book
To request in for a book, simply email Kevin and he will either add your name to the waiting list or make arrangements to send it out. You can use the Book List to see if a book is immediately available or to get an idea of when it will be.
Conditions
To use the Lending Library, you must be a member of Moneta-L in good standing for at least 30 days. You may borrow a single book for a period of 2 - 4 weeks. The length on time depends on the number of people on the waiting for that book.
Also you agree to:
- Pay the postage (preferably First Class to reduce the waiting time), from and to the
Lending Library.
- Return the book on the due date or make arrangements to ship the book to the next
person on the waiting list if you are running late. Also if you will be late, notify
Kevin.
- Treat the book as if it were your own and return it in good condition.
Shipping
To start I will be using padded mailers for shipping the books out. If you open it carefully you may be able to send your book back in the same mailer. However, I will leave that up to your discretion. Just try to make sure the book is protected from damage.
When you receive a book make note of the shipping charge, when you ship the book back you will have to send that amount back to Kevin. (A check is fine. Sacajawea dollars are even better.) The Lending Library will be run on the honor system. I will not be tracking the shipping charges that I accrue with sending books out.
Donations
If you have a book that you no longer need and think may be of interest to the members, email
Kevin with the information. We will accept books on a wide range of subjects dealing with ancient coins and history. We cannot pay for donations, but we will give you credit as the donor and provide a link in the book listings to your web site if you have one. For mainstream collectors, we are currently looking for books on Greek and Byzantine coins and history. Specialized material on subjects such as Parthian and Seleukid coinage would be especially welcome.
